Life Goes On

One of the main reasons I haven't posted in a while is because I've been so busy having a blast on my OBGyn rotation, obviously.  But also, in my small amount of spare time, I've been having some fun too.  One of my favorite fall activities is to go to Apple Hill, where you can pick your own crisp apples and gorge yourself on a million apple-themed foods.  A few friends and I went last weekend, and it was as awesome as ever.  Here are some highlights from apple hill and other recent adventures:

Who says you can't have a romantic date in your own backyard?
And just in case you wanted an update on the kitties (honestly, no one probably cares.  Except mayyyyyybe Solitary Diner lol) they are doing fabulously.  They spend their time napping, staring at each other awkwardly, chasing each other around, and every once in a while, they rub their faces together.  If you know anything about cats, you know that this is a *scandalous* gesture in feline body language.

Zoey is too fat to sit in the window, so I open the door and let them look out the screen so she can participate too.  I call it "equal opportunity kitty window time"

The Trader Joe's Parking Lot Might Send People To Anger Management

The other day I almost lost my shit in the Trader Joe's parking lot.

Let's back track a little bit.  First, let me tell you what the Trader Joe's parking lot is like.  It's WAY too small, and poorly designed, so there are never enough spaces and everyone is in eachother's way.  And I don't know what it is about the people that shop there, but even when they see 6 cars waiting in line for a parking spot, they take their sweet time putting their groceries in their trunk.

Now I'll tell you a little about myself (in case you don't already know me).  I am a very easy-going person.  I rarely get mad, and I usually don't even get that mad when I do.  When things upset me, I am much more likely to get sad than mad.

So the other day, I'm waiting for a parking spot in a long line of cars, and finally it's my turn to get my spot.  And just as I'm waiting WITH MY BLINKER ON for another car to pass by before I can pull in, some idiot comes into the parking lot through the exit.  I see exactly what he is planning on doing, so I honk to say "hey buddy, I've actually been waiting for that spot!"  But he just ignores me and pulls right into it.  Are you kidding me?! Look dude, I don't like waiting for a spot either, but THERE IS A LINE OF CARS HERE!

Since my spot was taken, I had to start all over again and go to the front of the parking lot, so I couldn't say anything to him right then.  But I looked to see what he was wearing, so I could say something to him in the store.  I was just so angry!  Normally, when something like that happens, I'm just like, "Meh, that person is a douche! Moving on!" But this time, I was literally shaking because I was so angry.  I knew in my head that it wasn't that big of a deal; I don't know what came over me!

So when I found him in the store, I walked over to where he was, and I tried to think of something good to say that would put him in his place, but I realized there was really nothing I could say besides, "Hey, that was rude", which wouldn't really get me anywhere.  So I decided, since I didn't have anything good to say, I wouldn't say anything at all.  And at first, I was disappointed in myself, because I felt like I was being passive-aggressive, and not standing up for myself.  But after talking about it and thinking about it more, I realized that it was probably best that I didn't say anything, because it probably wouldn't have solved anything.

I really surprised myself though.  I can't even remember the last time I got that angry: so angry that I shook.  Who knows, maybe I was really upset about something on some unconscious level, and so my conscious took it out on something trivial.

12 Days To Go

Not a whole lot has changed since the last time I posted.  Today is day 23 of my study hibernation.  It's weird because I feel anxious that I am running out of time to study, but I'm also exhausted and just want to get the next 12 days overwith, all at the same time!  I've been relatively calm for the most part, which is good - I've only started to feel anxious in the last couple of days (when I realized how many questions I still have to do in my Qbank), and no "freak outs", thank goodness.  I think one of the key things that's been keeping me going is studying with other people, mainly BF.  BF and I have been playing this cute game.  Whenever we study at a coffee shop, every time one of us goes to the bathroom, the other one will leave a cute post-it hidden in the other's study materials.  Then we'll find it a few minutes later and giggle about it.  It's pretty fun :)

Found this under my FIRST AID book
I don't like to study in the same place for too long, because I start to get restless and can't focus.  So I split my days in half, and rotate around between school, the library and several coffee shops around town.  I've been photo-documenting my study adventures for the future, so I can look back and think, "Man, what was studying all day every day for Step 1 like?"  Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of any of the numerous sleeves I have ruined with highlighters, being the hot mess I have been. (Warning: these are boring pictures of studying...)

I haven't been doing my nail therapy as often as I anticipated, mainly because I have been studying at coffee shops a lot, and it would be rude to smell up the place.  But here are some of my nail salon adventures:

Oh yeah, and Mama J took this super creepy picture of me from across the coffee shop, then proceeded to edit it to be even creepier

Pacific Rim Street Festival

I love the annual Pacific Rim Street Festival in Sacramento.  It is a celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander culture that has been going on for almost 20 years!  I used to perform in it when I used to dance hula/otea.  Today, I went to see my lovely sister.  Here are some pics:

I had a great weekend visiting with my bf.  This next week is gonna be really crazy with trying to get stuff situated and preparing for my trip to Italy and France with my family.  Tomorrow, I will finally get to visit L&D again.  Wish me luck!

Med School Students Like Nature Too!

This morning I went on a hike in Auburn with some classmates.  We had a great time out there!  The weather was GORGEOUS.  Can't wait to get out there again next time!

Oh, and I didn't study at all this weekend.  You might be wondering how I don't get behind... Well, I actually get very behind on studying.  But in this case I feel like it was worth it for me to just take the whole weekend to relax and enjoy myself.  I will make up for it this coming week/weekend since we have a quiz next Monday.

Also, I spent some time eating lunch out on my deck since it was so nice today.  I love having a backyard!
