Happy
Medical Monday, y'all! Last week BF and I drove to LA to take Step 2 CS. It was actually pretty tough! You see 12 standardized patients (actors pretending to have things wrong with them) in about 8 hours, which was exhausting. Props to primary care docs who do it day in and day out, because it takes a lot out of you. Anyway, I'm pretty sure we passed, especially considering U.S. med students have a 97% pass rate on the first time taking it. It's nice to have that over with!
We were lucky enough to visit some friends while in LA!

Now I just need to sort out my personal statement. I spent 6 hours working on it yesterday, and now I have my second draft, but it still needs a lot of work. I'm meeting with some of my OB/Gyn advisors this morning, which I'm nervous about because what's left of my confidence doesn't need to be beaten down anymore, but hopefully they can point me in the right direction.
I'm glad you left CS thinking you passed... everyone I know (and myself) ruminated on the little things we did wrong and freaked out until we got our scores back! Unnecessary stressing, in retrospect.
ReplyDeleteOh, I definitely left feeling nervous that I didn't pass. But then my BF reminded me of the pass rate, and I felt better about it... hahahaha
DeleteBest of luck to you!
ReplyDeleteHappy MM! I just finished my CS too... in Philly! Definitely left a few rooms forgetting which exam maneuvers I'd done that time... but hoping that the "wash your hands and speak English" key to passing holds true. Congrats on getting over that hurdle!
ReplyDeleteI can commiserate with you about your personal statement. I few weeks ago Doc H had to update his CV and write up a personal statement for a project he was working on. He ended up writing a dry outline of it and handed it to me to finish it up! It was so time consuming!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had time to visit friends and link up for MM!!! Thanks!!
Great blog all the best
